Germany,mid/late-19th century; the hotte basket was the traditional method by which doll
parts and supplies were delivered to home workers, and, when finished, returned to the main
factory centers. The fascinating story of Ernestine Brandt,a famous hotte delivery woman
during the late 1800s in Germany,is told in Cieslik's German Doll Encyclopedia. A rare and
wonderfully-preserved miniature accessory.
