12" (30 cm.) Each has sculpted plaster face with applied brown crepe paper cover,oil-painted
complexion and facial features,tiny black enamel eyes,black mohair wig,wrapped body covered
with woven flannel blanket which encloses both mother and baby,wooden feet. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Mary Francis Woods of Portland,Oregon,created the portrait dolls
of Native Americans,circa 1920,the second version of the Woods dolls created with unique
plaster/crepe paper system,which lent a very realistic appearance. Value Points: most artistically-
painted portrait of Native American woman and child.
