20" (51 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with uptilted face and elongated strong
throat,brown glass eyes,heavy eyelids,aquiline nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth with
center accent line,brunette mohair wig in upswept fashion over plaster pate,slender kid body
with bosom darts,pin-jointing at elbows,hips and knees,bisque forearms. Condition: hairline on
back shoulder plate,tiny flakes on few fingers. Marks: 172 7 (head) JDK Germany (paper label on
body). Comments: Kestner,circa 1910,their model designed by American illustrator Charles Dana
Gibson who was noted for his images of Edwardian scenes and society ladies. Value Points:
sophisticated lady is a perfect model of the Gibson illustrations,has original body,and wears
lovely Edwardian period ivory satin wedding gown.
