23" (58 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket,blue glass enamel inset
eyes,dark eyeliner,rose-blushed eye shadow,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented
nostrils,open mouth,two rows of tiny teeth,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig,carton torso
containing clockwork mechanism,kid-covered metal hinged hips,composition lower arms and
legs,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well. Comments: Jules
Steiner,circa 1880,his Bebe Gigoteur,designed to emulate the motions of a young baby,waves its
arms and legs,turns head to and fro and cries "mama" when wound. Value Points: rare larger size
of the imaginative bebe with excellent bisque and painting.
