13" (33 cm.) paper mache swivel head with brown complexion,on matching shoulder plate,black sculpted hair in tight curls,black enamel eyes,painted nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth,paper mache lower torso,arms and legs,padded cotton upper arms and thighs,twill- covered midriff bellows. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa 1865. Value Points: the taufling baby,whose body style is considered the original of the child doll,is very rare and sought; few examples of the brown-complexioned version exist.
