19" (48 cm.) paper mache shoulder head of adult lady with oval face and elongated strong
throat,black painted hair looped in front and over her ears before forming into a triple-layer
braided coil at the back of her head,inset black enamel eyes in almond shape,closed mouth with
accented lips,original cotton sateen poupee body with shapely torso,stitch-jointed body,defined
fingers. Condition: original finish is well-preserved with some light craquelure. Comments:
French,circa 1840/1850. Value Points: of exceptional beauty and presence,her details include
fine sculpting of ears,painting of hair with brown shading around the forehead edges,original
body,and wearing an extraordinary original multi-layered costume.
