Description
17" (43 cm.) All cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted head, three seams at back of head, brown boyish hair with forelock curls and detailed tendrils, blushed ears, painted shaded brown eyes with spiral details and white accent dots, black and brown upper eyeliner, accented nostrils, closed mouth with downcast pouting expression, stitch-jointed arms, separately-stitched thumbs, disc-jointed legs with five leg seams. Condition: generally excellent, faintest nose rub. Marks: Kathe Kruse 75078 (left foot) Made in Germany (right foot). Comments: Kathe Kruse, c. 1915. Value Points: remarkable state of preservation, finest original painting, and wearing original costume comprising cotton print tunic and matching cap, white shirt and shorts, red knit sweater vest, stockings, and woven shoes. Included are two framed postcards of the 1910 era depicting very similar Kruse dolls in costumes nearly identical to this.
