20" (51 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead of adult lady with slender face, her head up-tilted in a haughty expression, blue glass sleep eyes, dark upper eyeliner, heavily modeled eyelids, slender nose, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig over plaster pate, slender kid body with pin-jointing at hips and knees, bisque lower arms, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7 172 Made in Germany. Comments: Kestner, circa 1910, the doll was modeled after the Charles Dana Gibson illustrations of Edwardian society lady. Value Points: unique model with intriguing connection to the important American illustrator whose image the doll most aptly captures, very choice bisque, original body with perfect hands.
