14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of lady with highly-characterized features,slender face with
strong chin line and nose,blue glass sleep eyes,heavy-eyelids,black upper eyeliner,painted
lower lashes,short feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with
center accent line,brunette mohair wig over plaster pate,kid pin-jointed body with dark-
shaped bosom,bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 175 1. Comments:
Kestner,circa 1910,the doll was modeled after the illustrations of American artist,Charles Dana
Gibson who made famous the image of the turn-of-the-century haughty society lady. Value
Points: all-original doll with superb bisque and sculpting,original brunette wig and plaster
pate,body,bisque hands,and wearing original silk ribbon and lace gown of the 1910 era,with
matching parasol,and has two little Scotty pups on a leash (one with original label "Made in
Germany").
