Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted facial features, painted downcast blue eyes in very small defined eye sockets, single-stroke brows, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with downcast lips in pouting expression, blonde mohair wig with side-coiled braids, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 500 G&H 5/0. Comments: Erste Steinbacher, circa 1923, the firm was then under the direction of Robert Carl and Gustav Heubach (hence the GH initials); the firm had been in existence since 1900 under various owners. Only two characters have been identified: 500 and 510. Value Points: very rare painted eye character with well-defined pouting expression, original body, wig and costume, and with little toy fleeced lamb.
