23" (58 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, widely arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips, and knees. Condition: generally excellent, sturdy body with few kid patches. Comments: Pierre-Francois Jumeau, circa 1875, his portrait model whose face shortly evolved into the first portrait bebe model by use of larger childlike eyes. Value Points: very beautiful lady doll whose gentle expression is complemented by very fine delicate bisque and painting, wearing fine antique costume, undergarments, kidskin shoes.
