12" (30 cm.) Each has poured wax head with slender face posed in angular manner,painted facial features,brunette mohair wig,very slender elongated body with padded armature allowing stylish pose,painted shoes,posed on original velvet or wooden base. Condition: very good,some minor surface dustiness,grey silk skirt has silk wear. Marks: Lafitte-Desirat 1917 (ink inscription on base of both (lady in green suit also labeled "Pour le Voyage" and lady in grey with "1917" paper label,). Comments: Circa 1912,Mesdames Lafitte and Desirat designed a series of dolls to illustrate contemporary fashion of the early 20th century. Value Points: exquisite workmanship on the haute couture costumes,one holding little dog in her arms,one with lorgnette. The dolls are being sold by the Lending Collection,Honolulu Museum of Art.
