Description
24" (61 cm.) Standing upon a red velvet-covered platform is a bisque head girl with blue glass
paperweight inset eyes,dark eyeliner. richly-painted long lashes,brush-stroked
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with richly-shaded lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig
over cork pate,carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,composition forearms,wearing original
coral silk and lace dress and matching bonnet,with fingerless gloves,shoes and
undergarment,and holding a feathered pet rooster with amber eyes. When wound,she turns
her head side-to-side,nods,and then soothingly,pets the rooster,who immediately ?crows",all
the while music playing. Condition; generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau 7.
Comments: Roullet et Decamps with Jumeau bisque head,circa 1888. Value Points: very rare
automaton with delightful and captivating motions and rooster crowing sound,in wonderful
larger size with well-preserved condition of costume,rooster,and overall
presentation,especially beautiful face.
