Description
6" (15 cm.) Large waist-up porcelain nude figure depicts an adult lady with grey sculpted hair
captured under a lavender coiffe with three tiers of ruffles,with porcelain lattice-work basket
balanced on her head. She has a slender face,elongated throat,aquiline nose,painted prominent
brown eyes,full lips,and arms posed in an upraised way as though prepared to capture the basket
should it tumble. With Dressel and Kister blue bishops stamp mark. Excellent condition.
Germany,circa 1920. The model was made with several variations of urns,some were filled with
modeled fruit or Cupid,and is considered one of the rarest half dolls to be found,notable for
exquisite sculpting and large size.
