Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted facial features, pale blue eyes, thick black upper eyeliner,brush-stroked brows, rounded nose, closed mouth with firmly-set lips, brunette mohair wig, composition body in unusual style with jointing at shoulders, hips and over-lay knees to hide the jointing, bisque forearms and hands, with antique cotton black school smock. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: maker uncertain, although stylistic painting is suggesting of DeFuisseaux, circa 1915,and body has some aspects of each of the doll bodies designed by Botta for Marque about 1914,and the Italian Burgarella doll of the late 1920s; this doll is certainly uniquely artist-designed including its unusual original finish. Value Points: very rare doll with character features,uniquely-sculpted and original body.
