Of fine wood,the two-piece secretary desk has drop-front writing surface with very elaborate fitted interior finished in red lacquer with gold trim,five lower drawers with bronze pulls,and an upper cabinet with pediment crest and exceptionally fine detail of fitted interior. The entire desk has black lacquer finish with rich gilt and ivory hand-painted village scenes,including nine persons depicted on the slant desk lid. Excellent condition. French,early 20th century maitrise model in the late 18th century style,with exceptional workmanship of cabinetry and painting.
