Description
15" (38 cm.) l. x 27"h. x 14"d. The wooden two-story dollhouse has exterior that incorporates painted and lithographed paper finish, with stonework paper on the lower level and brick on the upper. The bay windows, porch door and window frames are of carved wood with sculpted keystone ornaments on the upper window arches. A pyramidal-shaped tower with painted blue roof and architecturally-carved widow and trim is posed at the century roof, flanked by two double-stack chimneys. The front opens to reveal two large rooms, each with original floor and wall papers. Very good condition overall, some paint rubs and wear, two windows missing. Moritz Gottschalk, model 2114,this exact house is pictured in The Genius of Moritz Gottschalk by Evelyn Ackerman, page 35,described as "continental in spirit, embodying the architectural imperatives of its era".
