10" (25 cm.) Hardened dried applehead with shaped and painted facial features,bead eyes,muslin hand-stitched body,human hair,wearing original muslin print dress,red woolen blanket,cotton print petticoat,black leggings,and beaded kidskin moccasins. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Ute doll,circa 1915 from Fort Duschene Reservation of Utah,belonging originally to the grandmother of Dean Caldwell of La Verkin; she was an early pioneer of Roosevelt,Utah. Value Points: well-preserved early doll,holding a leather-covered bead-trimmed cradleboard with tiny applehead baby.
