Description
26" (66 cm.) and 24". Each has bisque socket head with blue glass paperweight inset
eyes,dark eyeliner,lushly-painted lashes and brows,thick brush-stroked and feathered
brows,rose blushed eye shadow,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced
ears,white periwig in the 18th-century style,French composition and wooden fully-jointed
body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG Bte SGDG (the
man marked size 12,the woman size 11,each with artist checkmarks) Jumeau Medaille d'Or
Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1889,the size and luxury costuming of the bebes
suggests their appearance at exhibition,probably L'Exposition Internationale of Paris in 1889.
Value Points: the extraordinary pair are wearing their Jumeau original couturier costumes of
Marquis and Marquise of richest velvet and hand-painted silk with silver metallic appliques
and exqusite silk trims.
