Description
11" (28 cm.) h. including flag pole,x 9"l. x 4". The small wooden building with lithographed paper
cover to suggest a large multi-storied and multi-windowed fort has a round tower at the side
surmounted by a wooden flag pole and a silk American flag. The front hinges open to curiously
depict a calvary on horseback, pistols blazing, likely depicting the Rough Riders of the Spanish
American War of 1898; the image is repeated on the inside door and back wall and is curiously
completely out of scale for the building. The name R. Bliss appears on the exterior. Excellent
condition. American,Bliss, late 1890s,a rare edifice by that firm with historical import.
