Description
17" (43 cm.) l. hood. 5" moccasins. The hood comprises a woolen hood constructed as a tradition Old Northern Plaids Ute pow-wow dance headdress,with decorations on the back of a cut bead rosette and ermine drop,and with tanned buckskin ties,c. 1930s; along with a pair of Eskimo sealskin child's moccasins with hide toe decoration to simulate a "white man's" button,c. 1890/1900. Both excellent condition,rare examples of fine Native American crafts,the wool hood being a hand-decorated and sewn trade blanket of the Behren Woolen Mills of Brigham City,Utah.
