17" (43 cm.) largest. Each has carved wooden head with dowel neck that connects to linen-like
hand-puppet torso and legs,carved wooden hands and feet,and having painted complexion to
depict various opera characters,with carved and painted highly stylized facial features and
decorations. Each with original hand-stitched silk theatre costume with rich decorations and
embroidery. Condition: generally excellent,some minor wear to costume decorations. Comments:
Asian,19th century. Value Points: rare larger sizes with fine original finish,elaborately carved
facial features including ears,defined chin and eye sockets; intricate original coiffure with carved
and decorative hair ornaments,and having elaborate hand-stitched silk theatre costumes with
embroidered detail.
