Description
12" (30 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features and light amber
complexion,very plump cheeks and stomach,painted closed eyes with lower lashes,high arched
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth painted as though open,black yarn hair tightly sewn to
head and topped by an attached black cap with green and yellow felt trim,jointing at shoulders
and hips of short legs,large feet,fingers on right hand sewn to hold pipe. Condition: very
good,some light surface dust on costume,few tiny moth holes. Comments: Lenci,their signature
piece appeared in catalogs as early as 1921,this example being from earliest period. Value
Points: rare doll with wonderful detail of facial modeling,original felt costume and with original
wooden pipe.
