Description
17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full lower cheeks and chin, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, distinctive pointy nose, accented nostrils, closed mouth, shaded and outlined lips, impressed lip and chin dimples, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, very tiny flakes at pierced ear holes. Marks: Paris Bebe Tete Depose 7 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, after winning his copyright lawsuit against Danel & Cie in 1892, Jumeau won the rights to the use of the Paris Bebe name, and in consequence created his own Paris Bebe which is this model. It is a highly characterized face, closely resembling Jumeau's 223 character series which appeared shortly thereafter. Value Points: rare Jumeau model with very fine quality of bisque and painting, original body, lovely antique costume.
