Description
16" (41 cm.) All-wooden carved polychromed figure of aristocratic man, sculpted flowing brown hair, sculpted neatly-trimmed beard, deeply-inset enamel eyes, strong aquiline nose, slightly-parted lips, one-piece head and torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted green stockings and flat black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Genoese, early-1700s, attributed to the workshops of Anton Maria Maragliano, the gentleman with deeply-sculpted frown lines is wearing original silk tapestry and velvet costume with braid trim.
