18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,unique neck articulation
allowing the head to to swivel,tilt side-to-side or nod forward,blue enamel inset eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted short dark lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed
mouth with accented lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French wooden
poupee body with deluxe articulations,dowel jointing at shoulders,elbows,wrists,hips and
knees,swivel jointing at waist. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose 4 (shoulder
plate). Comments: August Dehors,his 1866 depose for unique head articulation was
celebrated in an 1867 book about the French doll industry,comparing the Dehors doll to
Huret poupees,"...the Dehors dolls can make neck motions that allow them to say yes and
no,and to incline their heads to the side. These new movements make available to the dolls a
modest sense of superiority as if to say Go ahead Huret doll,see if you can do the same'.
