Description
13" (33 cm.) l. A gilt metal bed with fancily-scrolled designs is fitted with original mattress
(which actually disguises the mechanical and musical works) and bed linens of lace-edged
muslin and blue sateen. Resting upon the bed is a bisque-headgirl with brown glass
eyes,painted features,open mouth,four tiny teeth,blonde mohair wig with coiled braids,carton
upper torso, bisque lower arms and legs. The doll is designed without lower body, covered with
blankets,to appear as sleeping in her bed,a little all-bisque doll with glass eyes, closed
mouth,jointed limbs,black painted stockings,lace costume,held in her arms. When
wound, music plays and the little girl slowly sits up in bed as though awakening, lifts the little
doll toward her face and appears to kiss her gently. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism
and music function well. Comments: Circa 1890,maker unknown. Value Points: enchanting
presentation with most endearing movements and music, which function well,all-original
presention.
