Description
33" (84 cm.) Standing upon a walnut base with red velvet floor is an theatrically-costumed
acrobat,posed between two chairs,having golden-sienna complexion with painted
decorations,glass eyes,black mohair wig,and rich silk costume with embroidered vest,turban
and pointed gold slippers with fax-emerald settings. When wound,he performs a series of
elaborate and convoluted acrobatic maneuvers including balancing on the back of a chair with
one hand,and standing upside down balanced on the backs of two chairs; there are ten
animations and music. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: created under special
commission by Michel Bertrand of Switzerland in 1984,inspired by Vichy's deposed model
517,"Gymnast". Value Points: one-of-a-kind unique automaton is perfectlypreserved with
superb animations. Ex-Steinbaum collection.
