14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel inset
eyes,delicately-painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with
upturned lip corners in slight enigmatic smile,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig,Bru poupee
body with shapely one-piece muslin torso and legs,square-cut collarette,kid arms with
stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent,body especially sturdy except
two fingers worn away on each hand. Marks: C (head and shoulder plate). Comments: Leon
Casimir Bru,circa 1872,the facial model with distinctive smiling expression was deposed by
Bru in 1872,believed to be inspired by Empress Eugenie. Value Points: an especially beautiful
model with fine quality of bisque,original body,original wig,and wearing fine original blue silk
and muslin costume (bodice frail) with matching bonnet,undergarments,stockings,leather
shoes.
