Description
16" (41 cm.) Carved wooden socket head,brown sculpted hair in short boyish fashion with
forelock curl,intaglio carved blue eyes with white eyedots,short stroke brows,accented
nostrils,closed mouth with accent line between the lips,all-wooden spring-jointed body.
Condition: generally excellent,hands repainted otherwise original finish throughout. Marks:

from the Classics Dolls series,circa 1912. Value Points: rare early carved hair model with fine
carving and endearing expression,wearing original sailor costume and shoes. Provenance: the
doll was shown on the cover of Theriault's "Stillwater" catalog of October 1989,featuring the
dolls of noted collector Doris Hupp whose collection had been earlier been featured in a 1965
article of Woman's Day Magazine.
