35" (89 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head,brilliant blue glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark
eyeliner,lushly painted lashes,smoky eye shadow,brush-stroked and multi-feathered
brows,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,soft blonde
mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition:
generally excellent,hairline at back left crown rim through the ear. Marks: B.M. 11.13.
Comments: Mothereau,circa 1880,the luxury doll firm produced dolls for only a very limited
period. Value Points: gorgeous bebe with superb bisque and painting,especially fine sculpting
around the eyes,defined philtrum and chin dimple,original body and body finish,superb
antique white pique costume,ruffled bonnet,antique shoes; its grand size and luxury details
suggest the doll was created as an Exhibition model.
