Description
35" (89 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender facial shape and elongated throat, brows, glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes,brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils of aquiline nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig,French composition fully-jointed lady body with ample and well-defined bosom and derriere, tiny waist, elongated limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1199 S&H dep 13 (head) EBD (initial stamped on torso). Comments: the model was marketed as "La Patricienne" by Edmund Daspres, the successor to the Jules Steiner firm,1902-1915,with unusual closed mouth variation of the 1159 model that was likely commissioned exclusively for this doll, and has a unique body that was designed to enhance the fashionable costumes of the era; the body seems almost as though hand-sculpted indicating its very limited production. Value Points: wearing exquisite antique wedding gown of the 1910 era,the grand size of the rare closed mouth model suggests its creation as an Exhibition model.
