18" (45 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with accented lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,French kid-over-wooden body with so-called "baggy" kid cover over the joints,metal upper arms,bisque lower arms and hands,articulation at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,beautiful silk costume,undergarments,leather shoes signed C.C. (one heel missing),parasol. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 4 (head and shoulderplate). Comments: French,circa 1862,with head attributed to Barrois. and rare original body from the 1862 deposed design of Marie Emmanuel Cruchet,as shown in The Panorama of Parisienne Dolls by Theimer,page 217. Value Points: beautiful model doll with deluxe construction of body; the model is rarely found and was likely made for one or two years only in limited numbers and offered only in exclusive doll boutiques such as that of Terrene on Rue du Marche St. Honore.
