29" (74 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with long-cheeked modeling,blue glass paperweight
inset eyes in deep eye sockets with pronounced eyelids,dark eyeliner encircles the
eyecut,incised eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows,shaded
nostrils,closed mouth,modeled space between the shaded and outlined lips,dimpled philtrum
and chin with blushing detail,separately applied and blushed pierced ears,brunette mohair
"extended length" wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed early
body with plump limbs and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 14 (head)
Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,the model known as "triste" in
reference to its sad or wistful expression was sculpted for Jumeau by the famous French artist
Carrier-Belleuse under special commission,circa 1880. Value Points: exceptional beauty of the
