Description
19" (48 cm.) Arranged upon an ebony wooden base is an elaborate arrangement of gilt-ormolu
decorations and mirrors,that center a coral velvet tufted cushion. Resting upon the cushion is a
bridal coronet of silk flowers,glass pearls and wax orange blossoms,and the arrangement is
covered by an original glass dome. The "globe de mariage" was a French tradition of newly-wed
couples,symbolizing their hopes of a blissful future,prominent throughout the 19th century in
provincial towns and cities. Circa 1890. Excellent condition.
