12" (30 cm.) Solid domed carved wooden head and upper torso,oval-shaped face,elongated throat,shapely-modeled bosom,painted-over-gesso complexion and hair,outlined blue eyes with large black pupils,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with primly-shaped lips,blushed cheeks,painted brown hair in tight cap style with tendrils of curls around the face,hand-stitched kid lower torso,legs and arms,stitched on thumbs and separately-defined fingers,stitched-on slippers,wearing original costume of silk and muslin ornamented with paillettes and braid. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French,circa 1830. Value Points: very rare doll with regal presence and painting,superb hair,original body and wonderfully preserved condition.
