Rare German Bisque Googly with Double Face by Strobel and Wilkin

12" (30 cm.) Solid-domed bisque socket head with double-faced modeling,composition baby body,antique romper suit; one face with sculpted orange/blonde hair in side-parted bobbed style,blue glass side-glancing googly eyes,painted long curly lashes,arched feathered brows,rounded nose with accent dots,closed mouth with watermelon slice-shaped smile,shaded lips; the alternate face being a classic character baby with painted blonde hair,small brown glass sleep eyes,painted lashes and brows,closed mouth modeled as though open with sculpted teeth and tongue,sculpted ears. Condition: old hairline from nose to left eye and into hair of googly face,few small flakes on bottom of neck socket. Marks: 163. Comments: Hertel and Schwab for Strobel and Wilkin,circa 1912. Value Points: very rare character with double-face construction.
