Description
22" (56 cm.) l. x 10"h. x 9"d. A petite two room
wooden doll house has light brown finish on facade
with fancily-carved columns,ochre painted exterior
side and back,original wall paper with floor and
ceiling borders,and original floor papers to
simulate woven carpeting. There are three opening
windows at the back,each with original cornice and
wonderful original silk draperies with embroidered
details. A doorway between the two rooms has
lithographed architectural detail on frame and
door. The house is furnished with dropfront desk
having faux-rosewood finish,two upholstered
chairs,unusual upholstered bench,and fernery,while
a decorated Chistmas tree stands in the center,and
a miniature cardboard nativity scene sits atop the
desk. In the smaller room is a large wooden grand
piano with hinged keyboard and attached music
sheets,whose top is covered with decorative
miniature frames,statuary,and rare silver four-arm
candelabrum. The piano is musical (keywind on
underside) which plays Silent Night when the lid
is lifted. A dollhouse bisque woman and dog are in
the parlor. Excellent condition. Germany,circa
1910,wonderful original details and charming
themes in the appealing smaller-size rooms.
