Description
31" (79 cm.) l. x 14"h. x 15"d. A wooden framed
doll house with arched back windows and
lithographed exterior papers features two
rooms,each with original floor and wall papers.
The larger room is the classroom,with wooden desks
and benches for six students,each with porcelain
inkwell and porcelain hat hook,teacher's desk with
platform base,wooden easel with
slate,shelving,fold-over ladder,bench and
stoneware stove. Seated at the desks are six
all-bisque students with glass eyes,mohair
wigs,wearing school uniforms. Each student owns a
notebook with decoupage decoration on the cover,a
wooden pencil case and a leatherette satchel.
There is an abacus,globe,wall clock,mathematical
tools,and a collection of paper mache animals for
study. A wax nun in original habit stands at the
front of class. Behind the nun is a door opening
to her small room which is fitted with a
bed,cabinet of linens,table with artifacts,rare
lace-making board,and framed prints. Room has
original papers in worn condition,contents are
excellent. Germany,circa 1890.
