Description
17" (43 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulder head
with plump facial shape,rich cobalt blue glass
enamel inset eyes,delicately-painted lashes and
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with accented
center line,unpierced ears,brunette hand-tied
human hair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with
gusset-jointing at hips and knees,porcelain arms
to above the elbows. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: Brevete D.D. SGDG (stamp on
torso) Au Pere Noel (shop label). Comments:
Duval-Denis,successor to the Blampoix firm for a
two-year period only,1861-1863; signed D.D.
poupees are from this short period only,and this
example was sold in the Paris toy shop,Au Pere
Noel. Value Points: very rare-to-find poupee with
gorgeous face and complexion,beautiful porcelain
arms,along with her original trunk,trousseau and
extremely rare hand-written inventory of the
clothes that she owns titled "Liste de Trousseau
de ma poupee". The poupee wears an exceptional
gown of ivory and peach silk taffeta with matching
bonnet,and owns four additional gowns (one very
frail),black taffeta jacket,brushed velvet and
woolen coat,plaid cape,fur collar,three fine
bonnets and one wooden hat box,bridal coronne,two
chemisettes,three pairs of sleevelets,two night
caps,rose satin stays,various shifts and
undergarments,opera glasses,shoes,parasol,and a
few assorted other accessories. The trousseau and
inventory have been preserved in an early French
doll trunk. (The doll and trousseau were featured
