12" (30 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark eyeliner,feathered brows and lashes,accented nostrils,closed mouth with center accent line,pierced ears,original blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent,body very sturdy. Marks: 0 (head) (original paper label of Julien Hameau of Au Musee des Enfants on torso). Comments: Gaultier,circa 1875,the poupee was costumed in the prestigious Paris boutique,Au Musee des Enfants,owned by Julien Hameau,which advertised as a maker of doll clothing,and sold in that shop wearing its original costume. Value Points: with original shop label,the doll wears her original (faded) purple silk taffeta and velvet gown,undergarments,woven bonnet,leather heeled ankle boots,and stands beside a fine antique wooden salon chair with gold leaf finish and (frail) original silk tufted upholstery
