17"(43 cm.) seated. 19àh. including bonnet. 9àd.
Seated upon a wooden steamer trunk with striped
canvas cover,wooden slats,bail handles,is a bisque
head girl with brown glass flirty eyes,mohair
lashes,painted lashes and brows,open mouth,four
porcelain teeth,dimpled chin,pierced ears,brunette
mohair wig,carton torso,hinged paper mache lower
legs and arms. The girl is wearing her superb
original dress with lavish embroidered
lace,wonderful undergarments with lace and silk
ribbon trim,stockings,silk shoes,and woven bonnet
with lace lining. She holds a miniature Parisian
newspaper in one hand,and a pocket watch in the
other. When wound,she turns and nods her head,her
eyes "flirt"and she lifts her right hand to check
the time,while impatiently tapping her feet as she
waits for the train which seems to be delayed.
Condition: generally excellent,mechanism and
music function well. Marks: SH 1039 6 1.2 dep
Germany. Comments: attributed to Roullet & Decamps
based upon the their signature winding key,circa
1900. Value Points: the rarity of this model is
enhanced by its charming activity and pose,and
wonderful originality of costume,trunk,wig,and
accessories.
