20"(51 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very
full cheeks,amber-brown glass paperweight inset
eyes,dark eyeliner,mauve-blushed eye
shadow,brush-stroked and multi-feathered
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed
mouth with defined space between the shaded and
outlined lips,separately-modeled pierced
ears,hand-tied human hair brunette wig,French
composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed
body with straight wrists. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: 7 EJ (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or
Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,the earliest
period of his signature EJ model,circa 1882. Value
Points: rare doll with portrait like
qualities,gorgeous expression with very fine
detail of eye decoration,original body and body
finish,wearing original burgundy silk and velvet
dress with lace trim,undergarments,woven Jumeau
socks,signed Jumeau leather shoes with silk bows
(one sole replaced),and lace bonnet with maroon
silk bows.
