Description
17" (43 cm.) A paper-mache bird with blue and red
feathers and elaborate topknot of feathers,paper
mache beak,painted eyes,wire legs,is posed upon a
paper mache base designed to resemble a garden.
The ground conceals a bellows mechanism which,when
the toy is pulled along on its four painted spoked
wheels,causes the bird to appear to chirp. The toy
is contained in its original custom box.
French,19th century,maker unknown,preserved in
fine unplayed with,near mint condition except some
feather fading and few paint flakes on wheels.
