burgundy velvet basket with velvet handlethat
carries a silk tufted cushion upon which is
resting a wax orangeblossom wedding bouquet.
Classic symbols of lovebird,oak leaves wreath and
marqueriteflowers of gilt ormolu
decoratethehandle,and therearetwo uniquepaper
birds perched at thefront. Excellent condition.
French,circa 1880,the"globedemariage" symbolized
theforthcoming nuptials of a young French couple;
thetradition was popular throughout the19th century.
