Description
14"(36 cm.) h. x 29"l. x 15"d. The wooden one-room
store with attached large display window having
shelved window interior,has shapely pediment and
original darkest brown painted finish with gold
stenciled accents,pale blue painted interior walls
with darker blue rims and original ochre-painted
floor with stenciled designs. There is an open
staircase on the right hand wall with a fancy post
at the bottom,leading to a mezzanine with gilt tin
railing supported by three more wooden posts. The
mezzanine runs across the entire back wall,above
fitted shelving with twelve spice drawers with
silver labels,and attaches to a side wall of
shelving. There is a matching free-standing
counter and an early wooden and tinplate
scale,with box of weights. Accessories include a
set of lithographed tin tea canisters,and other
tin and cardboard boxes,most with old labels,tin
coin box,wall lantern and more. Excellent
condition. Germany,attributed to Kindler &
Briel,circa 1885. Rare store front with wonderful
staircase,mezzazine,original finishes throughout.
