Bisquesocket head,blueglass sleep eyes,mohair lashes,painted lower lashes with dot highlights,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eyecorners,open mouth,four tiny porcelain teeth,whitemohair wig in MarieAntoinettestyle,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition; generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 301 Paris. Comments: SFBJ,circa 1917,possibly from a series of dolls costumed by thecouturier shop of Margaine-Lacroix of Paris,in conjunction with their presentation of theart doll sculpted by Marque. Dolls from this shop werecostumed in historical fashions of France,with appropriately-styled wigs,as is this doll; theseries was designed to revivetheflailing French fashion industry,and giveneeded work to French seamstresses.
