17"(43 cm.) overall h. 12"l. Posed upon a wooden
platform with metal spoked wheels is a bisque head
Polichinelle seated upon a paper mache horse with
flocked finish. Polichinelle has blue glass
eyes,painted features,closed mouth,blonde mohair
wig,carton torso,hands and feet with painted
jester shoes,humps at front and back torso,and is
wearing an aqua and rose silk satin Polichelle
costume with tunic,pants,and tall hat with lace
and bells trim,and the horse has original harness.
When pulled along,Polichinelle turns his head from
side to side and waves the whip he holds in his
hand. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F.G.
(in scroll) Comments: the doll by Gaultier,the
maker of the classic pull-toy is unknown,circa
1890. Value Points: wonderful theme and fine state
of preservation of the classic French Etrennes toy.
