Description
16" (41 cm.) x 17" closed,opens to 31"w. A
box-shaped miniature post office of heavy card
stock has lithographed-paper cover to simulate
wood and brick; when closed, there are two walls
with posters advertising actual toys of the season
(presumably, from the same firm which made the post
office,signed N.K. on the posters) including a
magic game and a construction set; and there are
two mail slots. When opened, the "Poste" becomes a
very busy and active scene with ability to send
telegrams or letters and such. Additionally, the
Poste serves as a kiosk for daily journals and
included are several dozen miniature daily
newspapers including such curiosities as "Les
Poupees Parlante" which is actually a description
of the new and miraculous talking bebe of Edison!.
The set is preserved in remarkable original
condition,including original cloth awnings.
French,circa 1900,Nicolas and Keller.
