29" (74 cm.) Bisque socket head,brown glass sleep
eyes,dark eyeliner,painted dark curly
lashes,accented nostrils and eye corners,open
mouth with shaded and outlined lips,four porcelain
teeth,impressed lip dimples,blonde mohair
wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: L 1/2 made
in Germany 15 1/2 JDK 241. (head) Germany (body
stamp). Comments: Kestner,circa 1915,the model
represents an older-child variation of Hilda,and
is known as "Hilda's older sister" although,based
on rarity,it appears that few models were every
made as the firm preferred to place more emphasis
on offering the very popular Hilda baby. Value
Points: the rarity of the doll is rivaled by her
outstanding quality,not only of bisque but also of
sculpting definition and
painting,perfectly-preserved with original
wig,body and body finish,wonderful antique sailor
costume
